VERY SUMMER-LIKE TODAY WITH VERY WARM AND HUMID CONDITIONS UNDER
FILTERED SUNSHINE….
High pressure is gradually slipping eastward over the western
Atlantic currently centered north of Bermuda. Meanwhile a low
pressure area over southern Ontario has a trailing cold front
attempting to progress toward northern Ohio and northwestern
Pennsylvania. A pre-frontal trough is stretched out from western
New York southward through central Pennsylvania into Maryland
and Virginia.
As the low and associated fronts slowly approach our area,
mainly high clouds have been streaming across the sky today
allowing for filtered sunshine so far for the day. A few
patches of mid level clouds have been observed as well, but
so far have stayed in the distance.
Temperatures continue the warming trend that started yesterday
with readings reaching the mid 80s early this afternoon.
Unfortunately the dew point has risen as well and has been
flirting with the 70F degree mark at times, as a result it
feels quite humid out there today. Heat index values have
pushed around 90F, so it’s definitely a summer-like feel out
there this afternoon.
Winds have been fairly steady through the day. A general
southwest flow has been averaging around 12mph for the day so
far. It has become a bit gusty at times late this morning into
early this afternoon. The peak gust for the day so far is
25mph, which occurred just after 11:30am this morning.
Visibility has been limited today due to haziness. The view
which started the day around 40 miles, worsened with the view
dropping down to around 25-30 miles by late this morning.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F degrees, which is
12 degrees above the normal high of 74F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 59F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the
normal low of 56F.
