FILTERED SUNSHINE WITH CONTINUED WARM AND HUMID CONDITIONS….
Today has once again featured sunshine filtered through mainly
high thin cirrus clouds. As was also the case yesterday, diurnal
cumulus popped up during the late morning and has persisted into
this afternoon. A thin smoke layer aloft was observed during the
early morning hours, but it has moved out for now. All in all,
it’s a fairly decent summer afternoon.
Temperatures started the day in the mid 60s and rose to the mid
80s by early this afternoon. Conditions were more humid through
the morning with dew point values in the mid to upper 60s, but
these values have dropped into the lower 60s this afternoon as
some drier air tries to move in from the north along with drying
from some mixing from aloft.
Winds have been fairly steady for most of the day, although it
has picked up in speed early this afternoon. A west to west-
northwest flow has been averaging at around 11mph for the day so
far. It has been gusty at times since late this morning with
occasion gusts exceeding 20mph. The peak gust for the day so far
is 26mph, which occurred around 10:40am this morning.
Visibility was around 30 miles all morning, but has improved a
bit to around 40 miles by early this afternoon. The increase in
the view is likely due to the lowering of the humidity levels.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 67F, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 63F.
