WARM WITH ABUNDANT SUNSHINE, BUT LOWER HUMIDITY LEVELS….
Today has featured an abundance of sunshine only slightly
filtered through some thin smoke aloft. Once again some diurnal
cumulus clouds have popped up as well, but the coverage hasn’t
been enough to interfere with the sunshine.
Temperatures started the day in the mid 60s once again and rose
to the mid 80s by early this afternoon. Conditions have become
quite a bit less humid this afternoon with the dew point dropping
from the low 60s this morning into the upper 50s early this
afternoon. This is the most pleasant the air mass has been in
over a week.
Winds have been fairly light for most of the day, but are trying
to perk up a bit early this afternoon thanks to some mixing from
aloft. A mostly northerly flow has been averaging at around 8mph
for the day so far. The peak gust for the day so far is 18mph,
which occurred just before noon-time.
Visibility has been fairly decent for mid August with the view
improving from around 40 miles early this morning to around 60
miles by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 84F, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 63F.
