ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES RETURN TO THE HILL…
Yesterday afternoon the wind direction shifted from the North
to the South. The northerly wind brought cooler temperatures
to the hill yesterday morning. After the wind shift we saw a
normal high of 82F, 1 degree above the normal. So far today the
wind direction has been coming steadily from the south bringing
above average temperatures to Great Blue Hill. So far we
recorded a high temperature of 91F, the record for today is
98F set in 1912.
Visibility was slightly obstructed today due to hazy conditions.
We saw a max visibility of 70 miles at the 10:00 AM observation.
Cloud cover increased in the afternoon and consisted of a mixture
of cumulus and cirrus during each observation with patches of
cirrocumulus later in the day
We saw a dramatic decrease in humidity throughout the day from
around 96% to 43%, as temperatures rose the dew point stayed
consistent around 65F. The low humidity made today’s heat feel
milder than some of the other above average temperature day’s
we have had this summer.
The maximum temperature so far today is 91F, which is 9 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 65F, which is 1 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
