INCREASING CLOUDS AND ANOTHER HOT SUMMER DAY ON BLUE HILL…
Another hot, summer day on the hill today, with temperatures in
the upper 80s and dew points in the upper 60s for much of the day.
Skies started at partly cloudy this morning before increasing
clouds were observed by mid morning and through the afternoon.
Temperatures overnight made it just below 70F and then were quick
to rise despite increasing cloud cover. As of 1pm, the temperature
has made it to 88F which is above normal. Dew points however, have
been trending down since this morning’s first observation. We were
at a rather soupy 71F at 7am EST and have slowly decreased to 67F
by 1pm. It hasn’t made a huge difference in the overall feel as
the wind has slowed, but visibility has slightly improved.
The wind was fairly steady overnight but has started to decrease
in intensity as the day has progressed. Winds were out of the
southwest for the early part of the day before transitioning to
a northwesterly flow by mid morning and lasting through the final
observation today. The average speed for the day so far is around
10mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 20mph, which occurred
just after midnight.
Visibility started off with a limited view of around 35 miles this
morning but improved to 50 miles by the early afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 88F, which is 6 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 69F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
