ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0641E
SUNSET: 1717E
MAINLY SUNNY TODAY WITH CONTINUED SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES….
Skies started the day on the clear side after some overnight
clouds moved out prior to sunrise. As the day has progressed,
a few stratocumulus clouds passed through during the mid morning
period, but have since dissipated. However, high thin cirrus
clouds are advancing into the region ahead of a storm system
that will be passing to the south of the region tonight and
tomorrow.
All in all it’s been a rather decent day as the higher sun
angle and a light wind helps it to feel “warmish” despite
temperatures running close to normal.
The temperature started the day in the low 20s and started to
rapidly warm toward the mid 30s by mid to late morning, then
generally leveled off there. Dew point values which started in
the low 20s this morning have dropped to the mid teens by early
this afternoon as some mixing from aloft started to take place.
The wind was fairly steady overnight into this morning, then
dropped off to light speeds by early this afternoon. It has also
shifted from the west to now being out of the east, but was
variable for a time in between. The average speed for the day
is around 10mph, however it’s been closer to 5-6mph over the
last couple of hours. The peak gust for today so far is 24mph,
which occurred right at 10:45am this morning.
Visibility was quite limited early this morning to only around
20-25 miles due to thin fog and haziness, but has improved
markedly to around 70 miles by early this afternoon as the air
mass dried out.
The maximum temperature so far today is 35F degrees, which is
2 degrees below the normal high of 37F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 22F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the
normal low of 19F.
