LIGHT EARLY MORNING SHOWERS GAVE WAY TO INCREASING SUNSHINE
THROUGH THE DAY WHILE BECOMING LESS HUMID….
A few light showers moved through early this morning, which
were the remnants of thunderstorms that pushed about New York
and Pennsylvania late yesterday. Unfortunately much of that
rain dried up as it moved into our region. As a result, only
0.01″ of rain was recorded here at the Hill. This continues
to perpetuate the drought conditions that are gradually
getting worse.
Once the showers moved out, clouds did linger for a while as
we awaited the passage of a front. Once the front went through
the clouds began to gradually dissipate with increasing sun
by the early afternoon.
Temperatures are still on the warm side and continue to run
above normal for the date. Readings have reached the low
80s early this afternoon. The dew point on the other hand
has been decreasing after topping out in the upper 60s early
this morning. It was down to around 60F by early this
afternoon. It has become noticeably less humid as the day
has progressed.
Winds started the day out of the south-southwest, then shifted
to the northwest once the front passed through during the mid
morning hours. Speeds were steadier and higher during the wee
hours of the morning with the southerly flow., then lowered
for a while ahead of the front. It picked up a bit for a time
following the front in the initial cold air advection. The
average speed for the day so far is around 11mph. The peak
gust for the day occurred just after midnight at a speed of
28mph.
Visibility has been excellent all day with the view holding
at around 70 miles!
The maximum temperature so far today is 82F degrees, which is
7 degrees above the normal high of 75F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 66F degrees, which is 8 degrees above the
normal low of 58F.
