Alex Soong, Chief of Staff and Associate Director of Education
We are delighted to welcome Alex Soong to Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center as Chief of Staff and Associate Director of Education. Alex joined the team on September 22 and works closely with the President & CEO to advance the Observatory’s strategic priorities across programs, partnerships, governance, and operations.
From the classroom to operations
Alex has built a career at the intersection of education and nonprofit operations. After a Fulbright, Alex joined Teach For America in Miami, teaching fourth-grade special education for two years while earning a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
Most recently, Alex served as Manager of Regional Program Operations for Teach For America Massachusetts, the operational backbone for more than 200 educators across more than 60 partner schools. There, Alex led statewide programming and built Community Conversations, a series of small-group dinners that brought educators together from Greater Boston to Lawrence, Chelsea, Fall River, and Western Massachusetts, earning 95 percent participant satisfaction.
Alex brings a teacher’s understanding of what schools need and a builder’s instinct for turning big ideas into programs that work.
Already at work on the summit
Alex hit the ground running, helping manage our busiest fall education season yet, coordinating school visits and transportation, supporting the new Board of Trustees and its committees, and helping lead the Observatory’s strategic planning with staff. At the first Blue Hills Fest in October, Alex also took the stage to announce the raffle winners.
If you see Alex on the summit, please say hello. You can reach Alex at cos@bluehill.org.
