WINDY AND COLD WITH A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS….
An area of cloud cover moving across the area this morning making
for an overcast sky. Virga was observed as well with radar showing
some echoes from snow aloft, but nothing reached the ground. The
clouds then moved out by mid to late morning with sunshine taking
over for a while. By early this afternoon diurnal stratocumulus
clouds began to dot the sky, making for a mix of sun and clouds.
The temperature has reached the low 30s for a time late this morning
before falling back a bit into the upper 20s early this afternoon.
It would appear that a boundary moved through this morning with
some cold air advection taking place behind it. The dew point also
confirms this as readings rose to the mid teens by the mid morning
hours, but has fallen back to around 10F by early this afternoon.
Winds have been busy today generally out of the west to west-
northwest. The average speed for the day so far is around 13mph,
but the trend has been for increasing speeds early this afternoon.
The peak gust for the day so far is 31mph, which occurred just
after 1pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been decent today, ranging between 30-60 miles
throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 31F degrees, which is
4 degrees below the normal high of 35F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 17F degrees, which is 1 degree below the
normal low of 18F.
