OVERCAST THROUGH THE MORNING, THEN PARTIAL SUN, STILL COOL….
A weakening frontal system passed through overnight with little
fanfare. Another frontal system pushing into western Pennsylvania
and western New York is slowly heading in our direction. We are
now in the area between these two systems so the weather is quiet
today. Low clouds, drizzle, and fog persisted through the morning,
but now breaks of sun are developing early this afternoon as the
stratus layer slowly burns off. With the continuation of the
onshore flow, temperatures remain on the cooler side again today.
Temperature readings have reached into the lower 50s by early this
afternoon. Normal highs are in the lower 60s now, so it’s yet
another day of below normal readings. Dew points have been holding
in the low to mid 40s through the day.
Winds have been fairly steady again today, generally out of a
northeast to east-northeast direction. The average speed for the
day so far is around 8mph. The peak gust so far is 23mph, which
occurred just after 10:30am this morning.
Visibility was limited through the morning due to the drizzle
and fog, but has improved early this afternoon as the air dries
out a bit. The view varied between 5-20 miles during the morning,
but has improved to around 40-50 miles by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 52F degrees, which is 10
degrees below the normal high of 62F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 43F degrees, which is equal to the normal low
of 43F.
