ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0443E
SUNSET: 1841E
ABUNDANT SUNSHINE AGAIN TODAY, BUT COOLER WITH ONSHORE FLOW….
An area of low pressure continues to crawl a couple hundred miles
east-southeast of Nantucket with high pressure slowly retreating
northeastward toward Newfoundland. Meanwhile a frontal system is
trying to approach from the west. We are enjoying the area of
clear weather sandwiched in between these features. With the low
offshore, it’s keeping our flow out of an easterly direction off
the chilly ocean, so despite the abundance of sunshine,
temperatures are running cooler today than yesterday.
Temperature readings have been struggling into the mid 50s early
this afternoon. Normal highs are in the lower 60s now, so it’s
definitely below normal today. Dew points were holding in the
low 40s all morning, but have now dipped into the upper 30s
early this afternoon as some mixing from aloft starts to occur.
Winds have been fairly steady today, generally out of a northeast
to east-northeast direction. The average speed for the day so far
is around 8mph. The peak gust so far is 22mph, which occurred just
after 10am this morning.
Visibility has been decent for the most part except over in the
eastern quadrants where coastal clouds have been lingering along
with thin fog. The view has been around 50 miles all day, except
only 15-25 miles over the coastal waters.
The maximum temperature so far today is 56F degrees, which is 6
degrees below the normal high of 62F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 41F degrees, which is 2 degrees below the
normal low of 43F.
