HEATWAVE FINALLY ENDS THOUGH HAZY AND MUGGY CONDITIONS PERSIST….
Last night there was some rain in the area, though here at Blue
Hill we only received 0.01″. The rainfall here was very light
and did little to assist with dew points, though we are about
10F cooler today than we were yesterday. The reprieve isn’t
really felt as hazy skies have lingered, with the smell of
brush fire smoke and light and variable winds not giving off
much ventilation. The cooler temperatures are welcomed though,
even if it still feels muggy overall.
Overnight temperatures finally dipped into the 60’s, with a
reading of 68.9F. This is slightly above normal but is much cooler
than the 70’s we had for the past three days. We have had pretty
much all day sunshine, though clouds have filtered sun a bit during
the day, but temperatures have slowly risen to 83F so far today.
This temperature is only 2 degrees above normal so we are back in
seasonable territory. Dew points have remained in the upper 50’s
for much of the day which is improved from the 60’s and 70’s that
we have experienced over the past several days.
The wind has been light and even variable for a time during the
mid morning and early afternoon. Winds were a little more steady
during the overnight out of the east north-east but have shifted
to the southeast as of this afternoon. The average speed for the
day so far is only around 6mph. The peak gust so far for the day
is 16mph, which occurred at 4:40pm this morning.
Visibility has been limited today due to hazy conditions. We have
only had about 30 miles of visibility throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 83F, which is 2 degrees
above the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 69F, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 63F.
