Save the Record: $25,334 and Counting

Since launching in June, our grassroots campaign to protect Blue Hill’s 141-year climate record has grown into the largest fundraising effort in the Observatory’s history — and it’s still growing.

Save the Record launched this June with a simple idea: put the voices of the meteorology community itself behind the case for preserving Blue Hill’s climate record. Nearly 30 meteorologists — including Jim Cantore — recorded personal video testimonials explaining why this 141-year, unbroken dataset matters, with new videos releasing throughout the campaign.

That grassroots push is paying off. As of today, Save the Record has raised $25,334 — gifts from members, meteorologists’ own audiences, and first-time donors who found us through the campaign. Every gift, at every level, is going directly toward securing the instruments, staffing, and infrastructure that keep this record unbroken for the next generation.
