RAIN SHOWERS ARRIVE THIS MORNING MAKING FOR A DREARY DAY….
An area of low pressure over the region today is bringing a deep
flow of moisture from the south. This is resulting in periods
of rain which is much needed, but perhaps coming a bit too fast
for some locales. So far 0.35″ of rain has been measured here at
Blue Hill through 1pm with more to come.
Temperatures are of course being held down by the clouds and rain.
Readings have been holding in the 60s so far for the day, which
is well below normal values for the date. We should be in the low
80s for highs. With the air being saturated, this means that the
dew point is also in the 60s, making for a rather humid feel out
there.
Winds have been gusty today out of the east-southeast, helping
to make things even more stormy. The average speed for the day
so far is around 15mph. Gusts have been exceeding 30mph at times
with a peak gust so far of 36mph, which occurred around 10:15am
this morning.
Visibility has deteriorated as the day has progressed. The view
was around 30 miles early this morning, but has dropped to less
than 1 mile at times by early this afternoon due to rain and fog.
The maximum temperature so far today is 69F, which is 13 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F, which is equal to the normal low of 64F.
