DECENT RAINFALL OVERNIGHT; DAMP, BUT LESS RAIN TODAY….
Rainfall late yesterday afternoon, and especially overnight,
while not overly heavy, did bring a solid dose of water to the
Hill. 1.36″ of rain was measured through 7am this morning. An
additional 0.04″ has fallen since then bringing the event
total so far to 1.40″. Rain tampered off to drizzle this morning
before coming to an end completely. It’s been dry since around
8:30am this morning, but more showers are developing and
rotating through the area early this afternoon. Clouds have been
the theme today as one would expect, although we did have a
brief period of sun around noon-time.
Temperatures are of course being held down again today by the
clouds. Readings have just reached 70F just after the 1pm obs,
but this is still more than 10 degrees below normal for the date.
The dew point also remains on the high side with values in the
60s, thus it’s still on the humid side despite it being cool.
Winds were gusty overnight into early this morning, but have
diminished some into early this afternoon. The average speed for
the day so far is around 11mph, mainly out of the north-northeast
to northeast. The peak gust so far for the day is 28mph, which
occurred around 9am this morning.
Visibility was quite limited during the morning as we were in
the clouds. The view was only around 1/8th of a mile for quite
some time through mid morning, before beginning to improve. By
the 1pm observation the overall visibility was around 30 miles,
however lower to the WNW through NW due to rain showers in the
area.
The maximum temperature so far today is 70F, which is 12 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 61F, which is 3 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
