A REFRESHING START TO THE WEEKEND WITH COMFORTABLE DEW POINTS
AND SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES….
Skies started with scattered stratocumulus and cirrus with quite
refreshing air. Winds were a bit steady and breezy but by the
mid morning, winds slowed down and clouds increased a bit. By the
early afternoon, clouds cleared and the wind picked up to about
where it was during the early morning hours. It has been a top
10 day though, and such a wonderful way to close off the last
weekend of August.
Temperatures started off in the upper 50’s and low 60’s in the
region which was quite refreshing, especially with dew points
nearly 20 degrees cooler than yesterday. By the mid morning hours
temperatures were still under 70F and the early afternoon we had
just hit our normal for this year. Dew points have been in the
lower 50’s which is very comfortable for this time of year and
a huge improvement over the tropical-like dew points we had less
than 24 hours ago.
Winds picked up late last night when the wind shifted to the
northwest. The winds continued out of the north-northwest for
much of today with a slight shift to the north and northwest as
winds decreased in speed. The average so far for the day is
around 9mph, but has been decreasing since mid morning. The peak
gust so far for the day is 23mph, which occurred just after 2am
this morning.
There was a stunning 80 miles of visibility this morning, and as
the air has warmed the view has slightly decreased. Still though,
by the early afternoon we were around 60 miles which is quite a
treat by late August standards.
The maximum temperature so far today is 78F, which is equal to
normal high for today. The minimum temperature since midnight is
58F, which is 3 degrees below the normal low of 61F.
