We started the day with a decent amount of sunshine despite mid
and high level clouds already advancing into the area early this
morning. By mid to late morning, the clouds increased and
thickened enough to start filtering, and then eventually blocking
the sun. Skies are now overcast this afternoon.
Enough sun was realized this morning to allow temperatures to
rapidly rise through the 70s into the low to mid 80s by late this
morning. Readings have slipped back some early this afternoon with
the loss of the sunshine. Humidity levels have been on the
comfortable side so far today with the dew point generally handing
in the low to mid 50s through the day.
Winds were fairly steady overnight, but have picked up a bit
during the day today. A west-southwest to west wind has been
averaging around 11mph for the day so far. Gusts have been
frequently exceeding 20mph since late this morning. The peak gust
so far for the day is 30mph, which occurred just before 12:30pm.
While visibility isn’t as stunning as it was yesterday when it was
around 80 miles early yesterday, it is still fairly decent today
for late August standards. The view started the day at around 60
miles, but has slipped a bit to around 50 mile by early this
afternoon as the humidity level ticks up a bit.
The maximum temperature so far today is 85F, which is 7 degrees
above the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 60F, which is 1 degree below the normal low of 61F.
