ABUNDANT SUNSHINE TODAY AND A TOUCH MILDER WITH AN ONSHORE BREEZE….
An area of low pressure a couple hundred miles southeast of Nantucket
combined with an area of high pressure building to the north over
Canada are combining to keep an onshore flow going across the area
once again today. With a plethora of high latitude blocking over
the North Atlantic, weather systems will be slow to move, thus keeping
these conditions going for a couple of days. On the bright side (no
pun intended), subsidence between the two systems are allowing for
clear skies and abundant sunshine today.
Temperatures are a touch milder today than yesterday and are at
seasonable levels. Readings have reached the low 60s by early this
afternoon. Dew points have hovered in the mid to upper 30s throughout
the day, helping to maintain that chilly feel to the air.
Winds are busier today than they were yesterday. A northeast to east-
northeast flow has been averaging at around 10mph for the day so far.
Gusts have been occasionally exceeding 20mph, with a peak so far of
23mph, which occurred just after 11am this morning.
It has been another great day of visibility, with views holding at
around 70 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 62F degrees, which is 1
degree above the normal high of 61F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 44F degrees, which is 2 degrees above the normal low
of 42F.
