INCREASING AFTERNOON CLOUDS AND SLIGHTLY COOLER TODAY….
Skies have been clear throughout the day with the exception of a
few cumulus layers lingering about. At sunrise there was minimal
ground fog observed. By the first observation and until the early
afternoon conditions have remained clear, dry, and a bit cooler
than the previous couple of days.
Temperatures have remained below normal today, with a morning low
of 35F this morning. Dry, sunny conditions did help temperatures
recover, but we are still around 10 degrees cooler than we were
this time yesterday. Dew points were in the lower 30’s this morning
and have continued to drop as the cold, arctic air has settled in
the area.
Winds have lightened considerably since yesterday afternoon, with
a light to steady breeze out of the north-northwest for the first
half of the day. By the early afternoon winds have started to shift
to the northeast. The average speed for the day so far is around
8mph. The peak gust so far today is 24mph, which occurred at 07:44am.
Although it feels markedly cooler today, visibility has been just
spectacular with 70-80 miles today. That is one positive to cooler
air this time of year.
The maximum temperature so far today is 54F degrees, which is 6
degrees below the normal high of 60F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 35F degrees, which is 6 degrees below the normal low
of 41F.
