BOUNTIFUL SUNSHINE, BREEZY CONDITIONS TO START OFF THE WEEKEND….
Today has been absolutely stunning, featuring mostly clear skies
with the exception of just a few cirrus clouds lingering about.
Conditions have remained dry over the past couple of days, and
the dry air has given us clear views as well. The wind has started
to increase in the past few hours, but overall it still feels like
a warm, spring day.
Temperatures overnight dropped to 38F and rebounded quite quickly
with the all day sunshine we had today. We are well above normal,
with our high so far today 8F higher than average at 66F. Because
the wind has been out of the SW for much of the day, we have much
milder air coming through, which hasn’t impacted our temperatures
much at all.
Winds were on the lighter side this morning out of the WNW until
around 8am when we saw a shift to the SW and an increase in
overall speed. We were averaging around 8mph this morning but since
the direction shift we have averaged around 12mph with gusts in the
18-20mph range. Our daily average so far is 9mph. The peak gust for
the day so far is 31mph, which occurred just after our final daily
observation, at 1:05pm.
Thanks to the continued dry air mass in our region, we have enjoyed
70-80 miles of visibility throughout the day. As the temperature
started to warm during the early afternoon when the visibility
began to see a slight decrease.
The maximum temperature for today is 66F degrees, which is 8
degrees above the normal high of 58F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 38F degrees, which is 1 degree below the
normal low of 39F.
