MAINLY SUNNY AND MILDER TODAY WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR SEASONABLE LEVELS….
Skies have been mainly sunny today after a deck of clouds moved
out of the area just after sunrise this morning. More in the way
of pop up diurnal clouds developed late this morning and early
this afternoon, but they have remained widely scattered. A frontal
boundary pushed through just after 8am this morning almost
unnoticed except for the wind shift from west to north-northwest
and a sharp increase in speed.
Temperatures have finally warmed up a bit after a few days of 50F
or below. Readings have reached the mid 60s early this afternoon,
which is just slightly above normal for the date. Dew point values
which started the day in the low 40s, have since dropped to the
upper 20s following the frontal passage and mixing from aloft.
Winds were light this morning, but as mentioned, increased markedly
following the frontal passage. The average speed for the day so far
is around 10mph, but the trend is going up. The peak gust so far
today is 43mph, which occurred just before 12:30pm.
Visibility was limited to around 20 miles early this morning due to
thin fog and haziness, but has improved quite a bit to 60-70 miles
by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 64F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal high of 60F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 41F degrees, which is equal to the normal low of
41F.
