SUNSHINE AND SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW BRING A TASTE OF SPRING
TO BLUE HILL….
Skies have remained mostly clear today with an exception of
a few higher level clouds. The warm air has been nice, with
plenty of people and bird songs to be heard throughout the
day. Spring is indeed- quite literally- in the air today!
Temperatures have recovered quite a bit since the overnight
low of 33F. By mid morning we were nearing 60F which is 6 degrees
above normal. Temperatures warmed to 66F by the final 1pm daily
observation and were still warming. Dew points have also trended
to warming, with a starting dew point of 36F at 7am to 40F by
the early afternoon. It’s still relatively dry air, and so it
hasn’t felt sticky or humid, but this has really made it feel
like a true spring day.
Winds have been steady out of the southwest for much of the day
today, with an average around 13mph so far for the day. The wind
started picking up during the late morning with some gusts in the
20 mph range. The peak gust so far for the day is 29mph which
occurred just after 2am this morning.
Despite the clear conditions, visibility has been on the lower
side, due to morning fog and higher dew points. The visibility
has hovered between 30-40 miles throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 66F degrees, which is
12 degrees above the normal high of 54F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 33F degrees, which is 3 degrees below the
normal low of 36F.
