ANOTHER DRY BRIGHT SUNNY DAY WITH WARMING TEMPERATURES….
Today has been another bright day with mainly clear skies except
for some high thin cirrus clouds floating by. The overall air
mass is warmer, so temperatures are responding nicely to the
solar heating.
Temperatures started the day at 30F, and have recovered to the
mid 50s by early this afternoon. Dew point values that were near
30F early this morning has dropped to 20F by the 1pm observation.
They have gone even lower since then with values now into the mid
teens. This sudden drying of the air is due to mixing from aloft,
which is also mixing down some stronger wind as well.
Winds had generally been on the light side through the morning
with only a few brief periods of some gusts around 20mph. However
the wind has increased over the past hour with gusts now up to
30mph. The flow has been out of the southwest to south most of the
day averaging at around 11mph so far for the day. The peak gust so
far for the day is 30mph which occurred just after the 1pm
observation.
Visibility has been quite decent today with the view starting
the day around 30-40 miles early this morning, then increasing
to 60-70 miles by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 56F degrees, which is
3 degrees above the normal high of 53F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 30F degrees, which is 5 degrees below the
normal low of 35F.
