A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY, BUT WELL BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES….
Today has provided us with an abundance of brilliant sunshine,
but the air mass in place is of arctic origin, so it’s a rather
chilly day despite the high sun angle.
Temperatures started the day in the mid 20s, and have only
recovered to the low 40s by early this afternoon. Dew point
values have been in the mid to upper teens all day, very
indicative of the cold air mass in place.
Winds were gusty during the wee hours of the morning, but the
trend for the balance of the day has been for much lighter
speeds. A northerly flow became onshore by the mid morning
hours and has remained out of an easterly direction since.
The average speed for the day so far is 10mph. The peak gust
for the day so far is 31mph, which occurred just before 12:30am
this morning.
Visibility has been excellent all day with the view of 70 miles
during the morning, but slipping to around 60 miles early this
afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 42F degrees, which is
11 degrees below the normal high of 53F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 25F degrees, which is 10 degrees below the
normal low of 35F.
