EARLY MORNING SPOTTY RAIN MAKES WAY FOR SUNSHINE AND
CONTINUED WARMING TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON….

This morning featured mostly overcast conditions with rain
in the area, though we only netted a trace of precipitation
during the early morning hours. This puts us -1.02 inches in
deficit for the month and -4.33 inches for the year to date. The
humid air has brought some warm temperatures to Blue Hill, and
by the afternoon the skies cleared enough to have some sunshine,
further increasing the temperature.

Temperatures continue to be unseasonably warm today, with our
high temperatures nearing the 80F mark (78F) by the final 1pm
observation. Our record high is 83F (set in 2009). Dew point
values have also continued to rise, starting at 43F this morning
to a much muggier 51F this afternoon. The humidity in the air has
also impacted our visibility, and coupled with the lower wind
speeds, it has started to feel more like summer.

The wind averaged around 10mph out of the WSW during the early
morning hours, but has slowly started to decrease since about 9am.
We have had a few instances during the late morning where we have
had calm conditions. This has given us an average speed for the
day of around 9mph with a light and variable direction for the most
recent readings. The peak gust of 24mph occurred just after 2am.

As previously mentioned, visibility has been impacted quite a bit
by the early morning virga and then further impacted by the higher
dew point values and high pollen counts. We have struggled to make
it to 20 miles for much of the day, though we were ‘fortunate’ enough
to have about 30 miles of visibility during the early morning.

The maximum temperature for today is 78F degrees, which is 17 degrees
above the normal high of 61F. The minimum temperature since midnight is
52F degrees, which is 10 degrees above the normal low of 42F.
