SKIES TURN OVERCAST WITH SNOW BEGINNING AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON
The sky was mostly cloudy with a little bit of sunshine observed early
this morning, but clouds quickly filled in the gaps and by 10:00 A.M. the
sky was overcast. The morning low temperature was a well above average 27F,
but the temperature has only managed to hover around 31-34F for the late
morning and early afternoon hours. Yesterday’s average temperature of 30F
was two degrees above average, breaking a streak of ten consecutive days of
at or below average temperatures. Winds have been very light today,
averaging under 5mph for much of the day. This is in sharp contrast to
yesterday, when winds gusted to 48mph in the wake of the week’s Nor’easter.
Despite one strong Nor’easter just pulling away, another storm is arriving
today. The barometer began dropping again late this morning, and light snow
began falling around 12:30 this afternoon, with more expected later today and
tonight. This will add further to our seasonal snow surplus. We are 29.1
inches above average for the season so far.
