PRETTY SKIES WITH A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS WITHIN A PURE TROPICAL AIR MASS…

The sky has been decorated nicely with tropical cumulus clouds with
a deep blue sky as the backdrop! This kind of phenomena is normal
for the deep tropics. Fred helped to import a pure tropical air mass
into the region straight from the Caribbean. In addition to the pretty
sky, visibility has been pretty decent despite the high dew point air.

We’ve been able to see 50-60 miles once some thin fog dissipated early
this morning.

Of course today is the proverbial calm before the storm. Hurricane
Henri (Ahn-ree) is currently located about 240 miles east-northeast
of Cape Hatteras, NC moving north-northeast at 18mph. We are expecting
to start seeing effects here at Blue Hill by morning. It should be an
interesting day here on the hill tomorrow!

The high so far today is 86F, 6 degree above the daily normal maximum
of 80F. The low so far today is 70F, which is 8 degrees above the daily
normal minimum of 62F.
