THICKENING CLOUDS AND STILL WARM WITH BUT GUSTY WINDS CONTINUING….
A cold front currently stretched from central New York through
central Pennsylvania is making gradual progress eastward toward
our area. High pressure remains anchored well offshore over the
Atlantic. With the tight pressure gradient between these two
systems, a gusty south-southwest flow continues today keeping
us in a warm and somewhat humid air mass.
Clouds have been thickening during the day with some filtered
sunshine early this morning no longer being seen. A band of
showers have reached central Massachusetts, destined to arrive
at Blue Hill later this afternoon.
Temperatures continue on the warm side, but not nearly as warm
as it was yesterday. Readings reached the upper 60s late this
morning, but has slipped back a bit to the mid 60s with the loss
of the sunshine and continued gusty south wind. Dew point values
have been in the mid 50s all day, so it does feel a bit humid
out there.
Winds continue on the gusty side. A south to south-southwest
wind has been averaging at around 20mph for the day so far.
Gusts have been frequently exceeding 30mph most of the day. The
peak gust so far is 42mph, which occurred before after 11:45am.
Visibility has been limited to between 20-25 miles all day due
to haziness and higher relative humidity levels.
The maximum temperature so far today is 68F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal high of 64F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 55F degrees, which is 10 degrees above the
normal low of 45F.
