HOT TEMPERATURES AND OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS MAKING FOR
A DANGEROUS DAY TO BE OUTDOORS….

The summer weather continues as we have yet another day with
temperatures above normal along with oppressive levels of
humidity. Temperatures are pushing into the upper 80s early
this afternoon under filtered sunshine.

The dew point however is in the mid 70s making for very
oppressive conditions. The heat index has pushed into mid to
upper 90s early this afternoon, as such it’s not a good
day to be doing any prolonged activity outdoors.

The one saving grace is the wind. It’s definitely more active
than it’s been over the past few days. The average speed for
the day so far is around 10mph, but it’s been increasing this
afternoon with frequent gusts exceeding 20mph. The peak gust
so far is 28mph, which occurred just after the 1pm observation.

Visibility has been limited today due to fog and then just
haziness. We started the day with less than 1/4 mile visibility,
and it has only improved to around 30 miles by early this
afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 88F, which is 6 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 72F, which is 8 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
