CHILLY START TO THE DAY, BREEZY AND SUNNY SKIES….
Skies have remained mostly clear all day with the exception of
some early morning offshore stratocumulus and later a few
stratocumulus in the distant north. By 1pm we had a spot of
fair weather cirrus pop up to the west, but all in all it’s
been mostly clear skies.
Temperatures were chilly this morning, dipping down to 41F here
at the summit. Even with all day sun, temperatures have struggled
to make it to near 60F, and with a strong wind out of the WNW that
isn’t too surprising. With plenty of dry air over the area, dew
points have been in the mid to upper 30s throughout the day.
Winds have remained steady throughout the day, with a strong west-
northwest flow. The average speed for the day to this point
is around 14mph, with frequent gusts in the 20-25mph range. The
peak gust so far for the day is 30mph, which occurred just after
9:00am this morning.
Visibility has been an incredible perfect 90 miles all day! We
only experience a handful of days a year with these conditions
and today has been just perfect for seeing the mountains, islands
and taking in the crisp, blue sky.
The maximum temperature so far today is 59F, which is 6 degrees
below the normal high of 65F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 41F, which is 7 degrees below the normal low of 48F.
