DECENT WEATHER DAY WITH A DRY COLD FRONT PASSING THROUGH….
Skies started the day on the overcast side with some fog around
as well. The clouds broke fairly quickly revealing a mostly
sunny day. Some diurnal cumulus clouds did pop up ahead of a
cold front that passed through right around 1pm. Since the
frontal passage, the wind has picked up considerably along with
a rather sharp drop in the dew point.
Temperatures warmed to the upper 60s prior to the front pushing
through, since then readings have scaled back a bit to the mid
60s. The biggest difference so far is in the dew point, which
spent the morning and early afternoon hours in the mid 50s,
then dropped to the low to mid 40s after the 1pm observation.
Winds were mainly light through the morning hours, but as
mentioned above have picked up considerably this afternoon. The
direction has been mainly out of the west to west-northwest most
of the day so far. The average speed for the day to this point
is around 9mph, but the trend is increasing. The peak gust so
far for the day is 39mph, which occurred just after 2:20pm.
Visibility started off at only around 15-20 miles due to
lingering thin fog, but gradually improved to 70 miles by early
this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 69F, which is 4 degrees
above the normal high of 65F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 53F, which is 8 degrees above the normal low of 48F.
