ABUNDANT SUNSHINE (THE THEME CONTINUES), BUT MUCH COOLER TODAY….
Today is yet another very nice day with plenty of sunshine, but
temperatures are much cooler following the passage of a cold
front overnight. Nonetheless, it’s still a very nice day to be
outdoors and enjoying nature!
Temperatures dropped into the low 40s early this morning as
decent cold air advection took place following the cold frontal
passage. Despite full sunshine today, readings have only slowly
risen back to the mid 50s (which is slightly below normal for
this time of year). Dew point values have been holding in the
low 30s so far today, indicating a fairly dry air mass in place.
It is also adding a bit of extra chill (or crispness) to the air
as well.
Winds were gusty overnight with the frontal passage and the cold
air advection that followed. However speeds have drastically
decreased during the daylight hours as high pressure builds over
the region. A northerly flow overnight and early this morning has
become variable as the speed drops off. The average speed for the
day so far is around 9mph, but it’s been closer to 4-5mph over
the past couple of hours. The peak gust for the day so far is
30mph, which occurred just after 12:30am this morning.
Visibility has been very good today with the view being around
70 miles all day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 55F, which is 2 degrees
below the normal high of 57F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 42F, which is 2 degrees above the normal low of 40F.
