VERY PLEASANT SUMMER DAY FOR LATE AUGUST….
The day started with mainly clear skies and very comfortable
temperatures. As the heating of the day built, convective clouds
of the fair weather variety (ie fair weather cumulus) began to
develop and has been decorating the sky through early this
afternoon. As such a mix of sun and clouds are the result, giving
us a very fine day for late August.
Temperatures were on the cool side early this morning with the low
in the upper 50s. They have warmed nicely into the upper 70s by
early this afternoon, which is close to normal for this time of
year. With dew point values in the upper 50s, it has felt very
comfortable out there. Today has been a great day for any outdoor
activities.
Winds are lighter than yesterday, but still fairly steady out of
mainly the west. The average speed for the day so far is around
9mph. Gusts have been reaching around 20mph from about the late
morning hours onward. The peak gust for the day so far is 23mph,
which occurred just before 1pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been quite decent for this time of year, thanks
mainly to the low humidity levels. The view has been between
50-70 miles throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 78F, which is 1 degree
below the normal high of 79F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 58F, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 62F.
