COLD FRONT BRINGS RAINFALL OVERNIGHT, A DRIER AND COOLER DAY TODAY….
Rainfall associated with a cold front that pushed through overnight
and early this morning brought a decent dose of moisture to the area.
0.52″ of rain was measured through 7am this morning. Conditions has
improved markedly since early this morning with the clouds moving out
leaving us with plenty of sunshine.
Despite the sun, decent cold air advection, which initially sent
readings from the mid 50s during the wee hours of the morning down to
the low 40s by 7am. Values have been slow to recover through this
morning into early this afternoon, but have reached the low 50s once
again. Dew point values have been falling off gradually as well, from
the mid 50s during the wee hours to the upper 20s by early this
afternoon.
Winds are busy today once again thanks to the cold air advection. A
northwest to north-northwesterly flow has been averaging at around
15mph for the day so far. Gusts have been ramping up as well exceeding
30mph at times. The peak gust so far is 38mph, which occurred just
before the 10am observation.
Visibility has been excellent today, averaging at around 70-80 miles
all day.
The maximum temperature for today is 55F degrees, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 50F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 42F degrees, which is 10 degrees above the normal low of 32F.
