BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

YESTERDAY’S MAX OF 52F MARKS THE FIRST TRIP INTO THE
50s THIS MONTH, MARKING THE FIRST SIGNIFICANTLY WARMER-
THAN-AVERAGE DAY IN MORE THAN TWO WEEKS

Saturday’s relative warmth and daily departure of +7 is
typically not news for this time of the year; however, it represents
the first significantly warm day in quite some time. February 24th
was the last time Blue Hill had hit the 50 degree mark after seeing
the first week of March average 9 degrees below the norm.

While today’s skies appear just as pleasant, temperatures have not
soared nearly as high as yesterday with a day time maximum of 38F so
far by the 1:00 PM observation. Clouds have generally been
dissipating with only a few cumulus mostly on the horizon and
offshore. Visibility at 1:00 PM was excellent at 80 miles.

Just as a friendly reminder from above, all Blue Hill Weather data
times represented in this summary remain on Eastern Standard Time, like
most weather data, and especially data at Blue Hill, which pre-dates
the use of Daylight Savings Time in the United States.
