OVERCAST, COOL, AND DAMP WITH A BRISK SOUTHERLY WIND….
Cloudy skies have been the theme today with dry weather this
morning turning damp and dreary this afternoon with light rain
moving into the area. Not a great day to be out and about
unfortunately.
Temperatures are on the cool side today with readings only
reaching the low 40s late this morning. This is only a bit below
normal for the date, but with the brisk wind and dampness, it
feels considerably chillier than the thermometer would suggest.
Dew points have been on the rise all day, as one would expect
with rain moving in. It started the day in the mid to upper 20s,
but has risen into the mid to upper 30s by early this afternoon.
Winds gradually veered from an easterly direction to a southerly
direction overnight. It’s been out of the south since the mid
morning hours. Speeds have been increasing through the morning
into this afternoon with gusts frequently exceeding 30mph since
mid morning. The average speed for the day so far is around
13mph. The peak gust for the day so far is 40mph, which occurred
just before 12pm noon.
The visibility has been deteriorating as the day progresses,
dropping from around 40 miles early this morning to under 10
miles this afternoon with rain and thin fog.
The maximum temperature so far today is 42F degrees, which is
4 degrees below the normal high of 46F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 33F degrees, which is 4 degrees above the
normal low of 29F.
