DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SUNDAY, MARCH 2, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
VERY LIGHT SNOW AND FLURRIES UNDER OVERCAST
SKIES BRING THE WEEKEND TO A CLOSE.
Although Saturday represents the fifth day in a row of below
average cold, temperatures refused to give way following
yesterday’s daytime heating and overnight cloudiness with
temperatures within a couple of degrees from the freezing
mark for most of today.
Light snow began at approximately 7:15 AM this morning,
quickly dissipating to flurries by 7:40 AM, with only a trace
of snow and liquid equivalent coating the ground by 10 AM.
By 1:00 PM the sun became visible again with layers of stratus
and nimbostratus on the decrease and revealing breaks in the
overcast overhead. Visibility has remained poor throughout
the day with light haze in most directions reducing visibility
to 30 miles by 1:00 PM. The afternoon observation also revealed
a day time maximum of 36.7F.
