GROUNDHOG’S DAY IN JULY, THE SPECTACULAR JULY WEATHER CONTINUES….
The upper level trough over the region this weekend continues to
provide us with exceptional summer weather for this time of year.
High heat and high humidity levels both continue to be non-existent
which is making for an exceptional stretch of weather this weekend.
Today has once again featured plenty of sunshine with only a few
clouds of various types and levels floating by. With temperatures
that are even cooler than yesterday and very comfortable humidity
levels, it’s been another spectacular day for any and all outdoor
activities.
As mentioned, temperatures are even cooler today than they were
yesterday thanks in part to a robust onshore flow. Readings early
this morning started the day in the mid 50s, and had only warmed
to the low to mid 70s by early this afternoon. This is definitely
below normal for this time of year. Dew point values are once again
hanging out in the mid 50s making for very comfortable air.
Winds have been fairly busy, generally out of the northeast to
east-northeast. After being at light speeds early this morning,
they freshened early this afternoon. The average speed for the day
so far is around 9mph. It has become more gusty in the last hour
or two with gusts reaching just above 20mph. The peak gust so far
for the day is 22mph, which occurred just after noon-time.
Visibility has been decent as well, with a view of 50-60 miles
throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 73F, which is 9 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 56F, which is 8 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
