AFTER A TASTE OF SUMMER YESTERDAY, BACK TO MORE SEASONABLE WEATHER
ON THIS EASTER SUNDAY….

Quite the taste of summer yesterday with temperatures reaching the
low 80s under a milky sky and hazy conditions. Even the dew point
reached the mid 50s yesterday to add a slight humid feel to the air.
Even overnight, temperatures were slow to decrease with a reading
of 67F still at midnight (which is the high for today). A cold
front pushed through early this morning with a pretty sharp increase
in wind and a modest drop in temperature into the low to mid 50s.

The strong cold air advection is continuing into early this
afternoon with strong gusty winds, and temperatures that are having
a hard time gaining much upward momentum as readings have only
recovered to the low 60s. Dew point values have been on the decline
as the cold air advection continues, with readings dropping from the
mid 50s during the wee hours of this morning, to the upper 20s by
early this afternoon. The good news is that there is plenty of
sunshine today, so all in all it’s not a bad day for any Easter
plans despite the gusty wind.

As mentioned, winds are quite busy today. A mostly northwest flow
has been averaging at around 21mph for the day so far. Frequent
gusts over 30mph have been occurring here on the summit since early
this morning. The peak gust for the day so far is 53mph, which
occurred just after 8:30am this morning.

Visibility is excellent today with the drier, clearer air mass
pushing into the region. The view has been 70-80 miles all day!

The maximum temperature for today is 67F degrees, which is 8
degrees above the normal high of 59F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 53F degrees, which is 13 degrees above the
normal low of 40F.
