COLD FRONT PASSES OVERNIGHT, BRINGING 45 MPH GUST
AND 0.27 INCHES OF NEW RAIN
Yesterday’s gusty conditions produced a peak wind
gust of 45 MPH at 12:37 PM EST from the South along
with a midnight to midnight average wind speed of
17.5 MPH. From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EST yesterday afternoon
wind’s averaged 28 MPH.
Rain showers began at approximately 3:00 PM EST in the
afternoon with occasional waves of moderate to heavy
rainfall totaling 0.27 inches. By midnight temperatures
dropped sharply from near 60F to an overnight low
of 44F.
Clear conditions this morning along with an intrusion
of drier, cooler air produced excellent visibility of
80 miles in all directions at the 7:00 AM EST observation.
By the 10:00 AM EST observation mostly clear skies were
still present with some cirrostratus slowly advancing toward
the station from the NW.
