SUMMER-LIKE AIR MASS REMAINS IN PLACE TODAY WITH WARM AND HUMID
CONDITIONS….
Despite the skies remaining mainly cloudy today, there has been
enough insolation and a few breaks of sun to allow for rather
warm temperatures this afternoon.
Temperatures overnight only dropped to the mid to upper 60s.
This is very indicative of the type of air mass in place. As
such, it hasn’t taken much sun today to get readings into the
mid 80s by early this afternoon. It is also rather humid today
with the dew point reaching the low to mid 60s.
Winds started the day out of a westerly direction, but then
backed to a southerly direction during the morning. It has become
a bit gusty by early this afternoon as some mixing from aloft
takes place. The average speed for the day so far is around 10mph.
The peak gust so far is 32mph, which occurred just before 1pm
this afternoon.
Visibility has been quite limited again today due to haziness.
The haze is due to a combination of the high pollen count, and
the increase in humidity levels. The view started at around 35
miles early this morning, but has lowered to only around 20 miles
by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F degrees, which is
14 degrees above the normal high of 72F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 67F degrees, which is 12 degrees above the
normal low of 55F.
