LIGHT WINDS WITH BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES TO ROUND OUT
A CALM MID-AUGUST SATURDAY….
Today started off with mostly clear conditions, though clouds
began to increase my mid morning. Fair weather cumulus and
cirrus clouds were observed with plenty of sunshine still, as
much of the day has been under partly cloudy conditions.
Temperatures dipped into the upper 50s here at Blue Hill early
this morning before rebounding into the upper 70’s by the 1pm
observation. This is just under seasonable, but after being well
above average for the month this is a nice change of pace. Dew
points have remained in the mid to upper 50’s throughout the day;
so another day of dry, comfortable air.
Winds were steady during the overnight with flow out of the north.
By early morning, winds have decreased quite a bit, becoming
variable at times. The average wind speed for the day so far is
around 7mph. The peak gust for the day so far is 19mph, which
occurred just after midnight this morning.
Visibility has held steady at 60 miles throughout the day. This
is quite a treat this time of year when higher humidity levels
usually impact visibility to under 40 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 78F, which is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 81F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 59F, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 63F.
