DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
HIGH CLOUDINESS FROM LOW PRESSURE MOVING EAST TO OUR SOUTH
COLDER ARCTIC AIR TODAY WITH A.M. LOW OF 13F
TEMPERATURES ONLY IN MID 20’S EARLY AFTERNOON
SNOW ON GROUND AT SUMMIT VERY PATCHY AND BEING
RECORDED AS A TRACE FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY
A storm system which moved eastward into the Atlantic
well to our south early today brought a late season
significant snowfall event to the Middle Atlantic
states. While the high clouds had overspread our
sky overnight only a few flakes of snow fell in a
few places along the New England south coast.
A reinforcing shot of Arctic air is following in
the wake of the system headed out to sea to our
south and temperatures are being held to the 20’s
along with dew points in the single numbers below
zero. This comes after Sunday’s high reading of
34 degrees at mid afternoon.
Although there are scattered patches of snow on the ground
here at the summit, the snow cover on the ground has dropped
to a trace today for the first time since February 3rd.
