INCREASING CLOUDS WITH MUCH NEEDED RAIN DEVELOPING BY THE EARLY
AFTERNOON….
We started the day with some sunshine with only some high thin
cirrus clouds overhead, however these clouds quickly increased
and thickened with overcast skies taking over by the mid morning
hours. Rain arrived in the area by early afternoon with 0.03″
falling by the 1pm observation. This rainfall is much needed
as the rainfall deficits have surpassed the 2 inch mark for
the month, and 8 inch mark for the year to date.
Temperatures rose quickly early this morning during the time
we had some sunshine. Readings reached the upper 70s. They have
since cooled back some into the mid to upper 60s now that the
clouds and rain have taken over. The humidity level is bumping
up some as one would expect with the dew point reaching the
low 60s by early this afternoon.
Winds were quite light during the morning as they gradually
shifted from the northwest to the south-southwest. It has
started to pick up a bit early this afternoon. The average
speed for the day so far is around 7mph, but the trend is
increasing in the last hour or two. The peak gust so far is
23mph, which occurred just before 12:30pm this afternoon.
Visibility started off quite decent with a view of around 70
miles early this morning. Now with the rain moving in, the view
has decreased markedly to generally under 10 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 77F degrees, which is
1 degree below the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 60F degrees, which is equal to the normal
low of 60F.
