DRY WEATHER RETURNS WITH BUILDING HEAT

Heavy rain and occasional thunder yesterday resulted in a storm total of
1.29 inches of rain here at Blue Hill from this recent weather system. This
was a welcome rainfall in the face of what has become a sizable rainfall
deficit over the past couple months. We are now 1.23 inches below normal for
June precipitation. While thunder was observed, all storms in the area
yesterday were sub-severe, and the peak wind gust yesterday was only 28mph.

Dry conditions have returned today, and temperatures have risen to their
highest levels since June 18. The high so far today is 85F. This is the
first in what is forecast to be an extended streak of days with warmer or
much warmer than normal temperatures in our region. The air was very humid
this morning thanks to lingering moisture from yesterday, with the dew point
near 70. By afternoon it was drying out somewhat, with the dew point falling
back into the mid 60s, still fairly humid. Skies have gone from mostly sunny
to partly cloudy, with some cumulus clouds developing with the heating of
the day as well as a few higher clouds passing through.
