Community Update
A Heartfelt Thank You
An update on our recovery — and on the community that made it possible.
Over the past week, we have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown to the Blue Hill Observatory.
Whether you donated, shared our fundraiser, sent an encouraging message, or simply reached out to ask how we were doing, please know that every act of support has meant more than we can express.
One thing has become incredibly clear through all of this: Blue Hill Observatory is much more than a historic building. It is a place that holds memories, inspires curiosity, connects generations, and means something deeply personal to so many people. Seeing our community come together during this difficult time has been both humbling and incredibly moving. On behalf of everyone here, thank you.
Damage from the incident — windows the fund is helping us replace.
We also wanted to share an update on our progress. We are actively working with a security professional who has generously volunteered their expertise to help us evaluate the best security camera system for our unique historic site. Rather than purchasing the first available option, we want to make sure we install a system that will provide the protection the Observatory deserves for years to come.
Once we’ve selected the appropriate equipment, we’ll be coordinating with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to move forward with ordering and installation as quickly as possible.
Your generosity is helping us take an important step toward protecting this National Historic Landmark, but your encouragement has also lifted our spirits during a very difficult week. Knowing that so many people care about this place, and about preserving its 141-year legacy for future generations, has reminded us why our work matters.
Thank you for standing with us. We’ll continue to share updates as we move forward.
Help us finish the job.
