June 2015 Summary:
The month was notable for being on the cool and cloudy side, and it was the first month to be wetter than average since February. The 24-hour mean temperature for the month of 63.9 deg F was just 0.2 degrees cooler than the 120-year average for June, but it was about one and a half degrees cooler than the 1981-2010 30-year average. The maximum temperature for the month was 86F on the 12th, and the coolest temperature was 44F on the 2nd and 3rd. The high temperature of 48F on the 1st was a record low maximum temperature for June 1st, surpassing 51F in 2004. The month was wetter than average with a precipitation total of 4.90 inches, which was more than an inch wetter than the 120-year average and about a half inch more than the 1981-2010 mean. Ripe blueberries were first observed on the summit on June 12th, which is about nine days earlier than the long-term mean date. The mean wind speed for the month was 10.9 mph, and the prevailing direction was from the south. The peak gust for the month was 41 mph from the south-southwest on the eighth. June was much cloudier than average with 47 percent of the possible bright sunshine being observed, which is eight percent below the long-term mean.
