Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley Named 2026 AGU Fellow
The Chair of our Board of Trustees joins AGU’s 2026 Class of Fellows, one of the highest honors in the Earth and space sciences.

Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley
The American Geophysical Union has announced its 2026 Class of Fellows, and Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center is proud to share that Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley, Chair of our Board of Trustees, is among the honorees.
AGU is the world’s largest Earth and space science society. Each year it names a small group of Fellows whose breakthrough discoveries, innovations, and sustained scientific impact have advanced their fields. Only a tiny fraction of AGU’s members receive the honor in any given year.
A career connecting science and learning
Tamara’s work in climate science and education has helped educators and students everywhere understand how our planet works and how it is changing. She has spent her career turning complex Earth science into knowledge that teachers, students, and communities can use.
Leading the Observatory’s next chapter
Tamara served on the Observatory’s previous Board of Directors and now chairs the new Board of Trustees, which took office on September 1. Her leadership connects the longest continuous weather record in the Western Hemisphere to the next generation of scientists, educators, and citizens. Meet the Board of Trustees.
Congratulations, Tamara, from everyone at Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center.
