SUMMERY TODAY WITH WARM TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY….
Today started with mainly clear skies with only a few cirrus
around. However clouds increased in both coverage and type as
the morning progressed, with cumulus clouds popping up in the
warm and humid air mass. On the whole, we’ve observed a mix
of sun and clouds for the balance of the day.
Temperatures are warm today, getting a bit above normal early
this afternoon. Readings peaked in the mid 80s, but has since
cooled a bit late this afternoon with a south wind bringing
some cooler air up from the South Coast. The humidity levels
on the other hand remain elevated with the dew point holding
near 70F for most of the day. This has made for a very muggy
feel out there today.
Winds started the day on the light side, generally averaging
under 5mph. However it has increased in speed by mid afternoon
as the flow shifted around to the south. As such, the average
speed for the day has increased to around 7mph so far. It has
become a bit gusty as well with values exceeding 20mph late
this afternoon. The peak gust for the day so far is 24mph,
which occurred just after 2:30pm.
Visibility has been holding steady all day at around 40 miles,
first from thin fog early this morning, then from general
haziness thereafter.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F, which is 4 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F, which is equal to the normal low of 64F.
