THE DELIGHTFUL SUMMER WEATHER CONTINUES THIS WEEKEND….
An upper level trough over the region this weekend continues to
provide us with exceptional summer weather for this time of year.
High heat and high humidity levels have both been non-existent
for a while now, and this theme continues. Today has featured
plenty of sunshine with only a few clouds of various types off
in the distance. Also a very thin layer of wildfire smoke has
been noted very high up in the atmosphere. With temperatures that
are slightly below normal and very comfortable humidity levels,
it’s been a spectacular day for any and all outdoor activities.
Temperatures overnight dipped to 60F before warming to just under
80F by early this afternoon. With dew point values holding in the
low to mid 50s, the air had been very comfortable. As a matter of
fact, the air is dry enough that the heat index (or feels like
temperature) is actually lower than the actual air temperature!
This is the type of air that will feel rather chilly after
coming out of the ocean or pool.
Winds have been generally on the light side most of the day. It
did perk up some once the sea-breeze took over during the late
morning hours. The average speed for the day so far is around
8mph. The peak gust so far occurred just before noontime with a
speed of 24mph.
Visibility has been holding at around 50 miles all day. Indicative
of the drier air mass in place.
The maximum temperature so far today is 79F, which is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 60F, which is 4 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
